Vera is an architect (1999), with a master degree in Integrated Urban Development (2001) and one in project management (2008). She holds a PhD (2009) in planning for urban regeneration and housing policies. From 2013, she is the vice-president of De-a Arhitectura association which focuses on built environment education for children, youth and adults.​

Since 2000, she teaches at the University of Architecture and Urbanism and since 2001, Vera has initiated and has been also working in ATU – Urban Transition Association – an action – research organization where she has worked as trainer, consultant, and project coordinator dealing with good governance and participatory processes.​
